
THE IMPORTANCE OF DISCRETE MATHEMATICS IN FORMING THE FOUNDATIONS OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

This article examines the role of discrete mathematics in the formation of key concepts and methods used in algorithms, data structuring, cryptography, information theory, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Particular attention is paid to graph theory, combinatorics, theory of algorithms, formal languages, and optimization methods, which provide the basis for effective problem solving in computer science. The presented analysis emphasizes the importance of discrete mathematics in constructing mathematical models that allow predicting the behavior of complex systems and improving decision-making processes in various scientific and engineering fields.
