THE ROLE OF LANGUAGE IN INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

Abstract

This article explores the role of language in intercultural communication, emphasizing its function as both a linguistic and cultural bridge among diverse societies. The paper highlights how language not only conveys information but also reflects values, beliefs, and worldviews unique to each culture. It discusses the challenges that arise from linguistic and cultural misunderstandings and proposes strategies to enhance intercultural competence, such as developing empathy, tolerance, and awareness of cultural nuances. Furthermore, the study underlines the importance of multilingualism and language education in promoting global cooperation and mutual understanding. Overall, the article concludes that language, when used consciously and respectfully, becomes a vital tool for fostering peace and unity in an interconnected world.
