“THE ROLE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF ULUGH BEG’S MONETARY REFORM IN THE FORMATION OF THE ECONOMIC SYSTEM OF MOVAROUNNAHR”

Abstract

   This article analyzes the monetary reform implemented by Mirzo Ulugh Beg, a descendant of Amir Timur, and its role and significance in the formation of Mawarannahr's economic system. The research scientifically examines the reasons for implementing the reform, its main directions, the stabilization of monetary circulation, and its impact on trade relations.

Additionally, changes in the tax system, urban economic life, international trade relations, and state financial policy resulting from the monetary reform are analyzed based on historical sources. The article evaluates the impact of Ulugh Beg's reforms not only on short-term economic stability but also on the region's subsequent stages of economic development. The research results can be used in scholarly investigations on economic history, numismatics, and the history of financial policy.
