Jumayev Azizbek , History Teacher, Technical College No. 1, Jondor District, Bukhara Region,

Abstract

This scientific article provides a comprehensive analysis of the process of proclaiming the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as its historical, political, and legal foundations. The deep political and economic crisis that occurred in the former Soviet Union at the end of the twentieth century, the collapse of the centralized governance system, and the aspiration of union republics toward sovereignty are examined as key factors that created the conditions for the declaration of Uzbekistan’s independence. The article highlights the essence and significance of the historic document adopted on August 31, 1991 — the Law on the State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan — and its role in the development of the state and society. Furthermore, the political consequences of independence in the international arena, its importance in restoring national statehood, and the initial steps toward building a legal and democratic state are analyzed. The study employs historical, systematic, and consistent research methods, substantiating independence as the realization of the Uzbek people’s centuries-old aspirations. The materials of the article serve as an important scholarly source for research in history, political science, and law.
