Abstract

This article investigates the phenomenon of digital slang as a modern form of lexical innovation within the Uzbek language. Through an analysis of recent studies and examples from Uzbek online media and social platforms, the paper explores how slang terms emerge, evolve, and integrate into everyday communication in the digital sphere. Drawing on linguistic perspectives from scholars such as Yuldashaliyevna (2025) and Alimov (2021), the study highlights the socio-pragmatic functions of digital slang, especially among youth, and its reflection of cultural shifts, creativity, and identity expression. The paper also critically examines how Uzbek digital slang diverges from or aligns with global internet language trends. Finally, the study underscores the necessity of recognizing digital slang as a dynamic and legitimate component of modern Uzbek lexicon deserving scholarly attention.
