Abstract

This article highlights congenital mitral valve anomalies, their etiology, specific features in embryological development, and clinical manifestations. The main anatomical and hemodynamic characteristics of congenital variants such as mitral stenosis, mitral regurgitation, mixed defects, parachute and hammock-type valves, and cleft mitral valve are analyzed. The importance of instrumental diagnostic methods, including echocardiography (ECHO), Doppler, and MRI, is also demonstrated. The article provides a detailed overview of modern surgical correction methods—valvuloplasty, valve reconstruction, annuloplasty, and prosthetic replacement—and their advantages. Early detection and appropriate surgical management of congenital mitral valve anomalies in children are emphasized as critical factors for improving quality of life and long-term prognosis.
