Cardiocerebral embolism causes the development of 30-40% of all cases of ischemic stroke. The medico-social significance of this problem is emphasized by the fact that cardioembolic stroke (CEI) is often associated with pronounced neurological disorders and significantly impairs the quality of life of patients. The risk of relapse is also quite high. Therefore, timely recognition of the cardiac cause of stroke and the determination of the optimal prevention strategy are so important.
