The trigeminal nerve is a mixed nerve that performs sensory and motor functions. It emerges from the pons of the brain and divides into three main branches - the ophthalmic n. ophthalmic, the maxillary n. maxillaris and the mandibular n. mandibularis branches. Each branch innervates different parts of the face, head, jaw and oral cavity.
