Antibiotic resistance is a major global public health concern, threatening the effective treatment of infectious diseases. This study investigates the prevalence, causes, and contributing factors of antibiotic resistance in Uzbekistan, using a mixed-methods approach that combines literature review, clinical data analysis, and surveys of healthcare professionals. Data were collected from 20 hospitals between 2015 and 2024, analyzing 420 bacterial isolates and patterns of antibiotic prescription. Results show a high prevalence of resistance among Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, with beta-lactams and fluoroquinolones showing the highest resistance rates. The study highlights the critical role of Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASP) in reducing resistance and emphasizes the need for public awareness, regulation, and targeted interventions. These findings provide evidence-based recommendations for mitigating antibiotic resistance in healthcare settings and inform global efforts against this pressing health issue.
