Abstract

Acute viral encephalitis in children is a severe neurological disorder characterized by inflammation and injury of the central nervous system. This study investigates the histopathological changes occurring in the nervous system during the acute phase of infection. Findings reveal significant neuronal degeneration, microglial activation, astrocytic proliferation, and perivascular lymphocytic infiltration. These changes indicate a complex interplay between protective immune responses and mechanisms of secondary neuronal injury. Understanding these histological alterations is essential for prognosis, early intervention, and development of targeted therapeutic strategies to improve neurological outcomes in pediatric patients.
