| Open Access | COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE CONCEPT OF TIME IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES BASED ON CORPUS ANALYSIS
Ergashova Kamola Ikromovna , Teacher, Asia international universityAbstract
Time is a key category in human cognition and language, expressed through grammatical, lexical, and discourse means. Although it is a universal concept, its linguistic realization differs across languages due to structural and typological features. This article presents a corpus-based comparative analysis of time representation in English and Uzbek using authentic corpus data. The study examines temporal meanings expressed through grammatical constructions, collocations, and lexical units. The findings show that English primarily encodes time through tense–aspect forms and prepositional structures, whereas Uzbek relies on morphological markers, reduplication, and lexical integration. The research identifies both common features and structural differences in the temporal modeling of the two languages.
