STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF STARCH AND OXIDIZED STARCH DERIVATIVES, AND PREPARATION OF ADHESIVE COMPOSITION BASED ON THEM

Abstract

This article describes the structure, physicochemical properties of starch and its oxidized derivatives, as well as the technology for preparing an adhesive composition from them. Within the research framework, starch samples were oxidized using various methods, and the amount of carboxyl and aldehyde groups in their composition was determined. The morphology of the oxidized starches was studied using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), and their thermal stability was analyzed by thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC). An adhesive composition based on oxidized starch with polyacrylamide and sodium silicate additives was prepared. Important practical properties of the finished composition, such as the degree of thixotropic recovery, setting time, and adhesive strength, were tested. The research results demonstrated the possibility of obtaining a high-quality, semi-transparent, and stable adhesive based on oxidized starch.
