| Open Access | CHALLENGES IN TEACHING WRITING IN PRIMARY SCHOOL AND METHODS FOR OVERCOMING THEM

Teaching writing in primary school is a crucial aspect of early literacy development that shapes students’ future academic success. However, this process is often associated with various pedagogical, cognitive, and linguistic challenges. This article investigates the main difficulties encountered in teaching writing to young learners and explores effective methods for overcoming these problems. The study is based on qualitative analysis of scientific literature, pedagogical research, and classroom practice reports. The findings indicate that students face issues such as limited vocabulary, weak grammar knowledge, poor handwriting skills, and low motivation. Additionally, traditional teacher-centered approaches are found to be less effective in developing writing competence. The study emphasizes the importance of student-centered teaching strategies, including scaffolding, interactive learning, peer feedback, and integration of reading and writing activities. The results show that these modern approaches significantly improve students’ writing skills and engagement. The article concludes that effective writing instruction requires innovative pedagogical methods and continuous teacher support.
