TRANSFORMATION OF JOURNALISM IN THE DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT AND THE UNESCO APPROACH

Isomiddinova Zilola Azimjon kizi , Lecturer at the University of Journalism and Mass Communications

Abstract

Over the past decade, digital technologies have fundamentally transformed journalism—not merely in its formats and delivery channels, but in its professional identity and ethical foundations. This article examines the transformation processes underway in the global media ecosystem, the evolving professional demands placed on journalists, and UNESCO‘s role in shaping international information policy. The study employs document analysis, comparative methodology, and participant observation. The findings indicate that the sustainable development of digital journalism depends on a genuine balance between technological innovation and ethical responsibility. In the Uzbek context, harmonizing media literacy, cybersecurity practices, and national legislation with UNESCO‘s principles remains an urgent challenge.
