BASIC PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS OF PRE-SERVICE PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the basic psychological needs of pre-service physical education teachers. For this purpose, the Basic Psychological Needs Scale was administered to a total of 20 pre-service physical education teachers studying in physical education and sports teaching programs. According to the findings, pre-service physical education teachers obtained the highest mean score in the relatedness dimension in terms of psychological satisfaction. Significant differences were found in psychological needs based on gender and sports branch variables, whereas no significant differences were observed according to sports level.
