The article explores how animation interprets and visualizes the symbolism embedded in the folk tales of the Brothers Grimm. It examines how elements of fairy tales — such as forests, magical objects, and characters —are transformed into visual images that enhance their metaphorical meaning.
The article also analyzes examples of successful animated adaptations of fairy tales, such as animated series and films, in which the symbolism of these works is revealed through the color palette, form and composition. In conclusion, the role of animation in preserving and transmitting the cultural values embedded in the works of the Brothers Grimm to new generations of viewers is emphasized.
