This article analyzes the role of the teacher in the modern educational process, his professional functions and impact on the quality and effectiveness of education. Also, information is provided about various pedagogical approaches - traditional, interactive, constructivist, competency-based approaches, and their role in educational effectiveness is revealed. The article considers the teacher's ability to use modern knowledge, information and communication technologies and innovative methods as an important factor determining the quality of education.
