This article examines the implementation of alternative assessment methods in lyceums to enhance English language proficiency. Traditional assessments often focus on rote memorization and standardized testing, which may not accurately reflect a student's language abilities. Alternative assessments, such as portfolios, project-based learning, and self- and peer-assessment, offer a more comprehensive evaluation of students' language skills. By incorporating these methods, educators can provide a more holistic approach to language assessment that encourages critical thinking, self-reflection, and real-world application of language skills.
