Abstract

This paper examines some critical aspects of Uzbekistan’s pathway toward a digital economy. It provides an in-depth analysis of the current stage of digital transformation under the “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” program, with particular attention to reforms in governance, infrastructure modernization, and the rapid expansion of e-commerce and financial technologies. The study further identifies major challenges such as the digital divide, insufficient digital literacy, and emerging cybersecurity threats. At the same time, it highlights the country’s opportunities, including its young and dynamic population, the adoption of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data, as well as prospects for international cooperation and regional leadership. The findings suggest that Uzbekistan’s success in establishing a sustainable digital economy will largely depend on effective policy implementation, investment in human capital, and close collaboration between government, the private sector, and civil society.
