Abdullayeva Umida Nigmatullayevna , Uzbekistan state world languages universityAbstract
This article explores the translation and lexicographic features of ecotourism terminology in English and Uzbek languages, focusing on their semantic, structural, and functional aspects. As ecotourism continues to develop as a global phenomenon, accurate and culturally appropriate translation of its key terms becomes crucial for effective communication and knowledge exchange. The study investigates how ecotourism-related lexical units are rendered from English into Uzbek and vice versa, highlighting common translation strategies, semantic shifts, and contextual adaptations. Additionally, it analyzes lexicographic approaches used in bilingual and explanatory dictionaries, emphasizing their role in standardizing terminology and supporting intercultural communication. The findings demonstrate that understanding the translation and lexicographic characteristics of ecotourism terms contributes significantly to improving the quality of language resources, facilitating academic research, and promoting sustainable tourism discourse.
