This article provides a linguistic analysis of the communicative and pragmatic features of titles of texts belonging to the science fiction genre. The functional load of the title, its role in conveying the author's intention, what associations it evokes in the reader's mind, and its role as a genre-specific stylistic tool are analyzed. Also, linguistic methods that increase the communicative effectiveness of science fiction titles are shown on the basis of examples.
