Dominik Gorog , Political and International Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary

Abstract

The Middle East peace process has undergone significant transformations since the September 11, 2001 attacks. This study explores the evolving dynamics of peace negotiations in the region in the wake of 9/11, focusing on the key challenges and prospects that have emerged. It examines how the global geopolitical landscape, characterized by increased U.S. involvement and shifting regional alliances, has influenced diplomatic efforts. The analysis highlights the impact of terrorism, regional conflicts, and political upheavals on peace initiatives. Additionally, it evaluates the role of international actors, including the U.S., EU, and regional powers, in shaping the discourse and practical steps toward resolution. The study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the factors that have impeded progress and identifies potential pathways for renewed peace efforts. By assessing recent developments and future prospects, this research contributes to the ongoing discourse on achieving sustainable peace in the Middle East.
